Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump’s eldest son’s girlfriend and the senior fundraising official for the Trump campaign, tested positive, for the coronavirus, the campaign confirmed on Friday.
“After testing positive, Kimberly was immediately isolated to limit any exposure. She’s doing well, and will be retested to ensure the diagnosis is correct since she’s asymptomatic, but as a precaution will cancel all upcoming events,” Sergio Gor, chief of staff of the Trump Victory Finance Committee stated.
“Donald Trump Jr. was tested negative but as a precaution is also self-isolating and is canceling all public events,” Gor added.
The tests were conducted in South Dakota where Kimberly Guilfoyle and Donald Jr. had travelled to participate in President Trump’s fireworks event at Mount Rushmore.
According to White House officials people in close contact with President Trump are frequently tested, as is the president himself.
President Trump refuses to follow safety protocols
The couple did not recently travel with the president aboard Air Force One. The report also stated Kimberly Guilfoyle was not feeling any apparent symptoms of the virus. Ivanka Trump, Donald Jr.’s sister tweeted on Friday evening asking Americans to “be safe & responsible this holiday weekend.” Also Read– Donald Trump’s bizarre way of thinking
“As we celebrate this 4th of July, follow state & local guidelines to keep you & your loved ones safe. Practice proper hygiene, social distancing & wear a mask when in close proximity to others.”
Ivanka’s tweet was ironically posted at the same time as her father’s speech where social distancing rules were not being adhered to and only a few people were seen wearing masks.
Several critics have called on President Trump to set an example for people to follow coronavirus mitigation efforts but the president has refused.
