“I don’t need to tell you guys that everything’s bad and good news is very rare,” Meyers said. “But when it does come along, why not gorge ourselves on it. Even when it comes later in the day, causing you to rip up a finished Closer Look and start from scratch?”

Meyers then dove in headfirst. “Hey, you guys remember Steve Bannon, the white nationalist slash giant pimple who ran Trump’s campaign. He then worked in his White House and helped engineer such odious policies as the Muslim ban and publicly defended the horrific family separation policy? Often wore two shirts when one would have sufficed? You know, the dude who had a crazy-person whiteboard in his office with policies scrawled on it like ‘Suspend immigration from terror-prone regions,’ ‘implement new extreme vetting techniques’ and ‘suspend the Syrian refugee program’? I’m shocked it also didn’t include ‘Brunch with Slender Man’ and ‘Kill the Batman.’”

Bannon was arrested on Thursday along with three others, due to allegations they defrauded “hundreds of thousands” of donors through the crowdfunding campaign “We Build the Wall.” The organization promised to raise money to help President Trump enact one of his signature 2016 campaign policies.

“As alleged, the defendants defrauded hundreds of thousands of donors, capitalizing on their interest in funding a border wall to raise millions of dollars, under the false pretense that all of that money would be spent on construction,” acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a statement.
