British actor Rosamund Pike fell in love with Budapest after filming locations and her rented apartment in the city. She was shooting a lead role in the Amazon Studio’s film Radioactive, while also caring for her young children. When speaking with Pike on the phone she revealed her exploration of the city off-set. “I sound like I’m some sort of tour guide for Budapest. I found there were loads of riches in the city,” she says.
Radioactive premieres on July 24th and Pike leads as physicist and chemist Marie Curie. The physicist is the first woman to win a Nobel Prize for her study in radioactivity. In the show, Budapest is used for late 19th century Paris where Marie Curie conducted her studies. “I often felt it was like Paris, without as many tourists,” Pike says of filming in the Hungarian capital two years ago. “I found it really inspiring.” Also Read– Demi Lovato engaged to Max Ehrich
During shoots, Pike was living in an apartment near the Parliament which is an amazing location and building near the Danube. Pike talks about roaming the square at night which was mostly deserted except for a few guards. She says, “Gosh, if this was London, there would be throngs of people!”
The streets of Budapest were transformed into beautiful Parisian street scenes, with flower sellers, cafes, horses, and carriages for the show.
