Kanye West just released ‘Wash Us in the Blood’ new song along with a new music video since 2019’s Jesus is King. West previously mentioned the new song in an April 2020 feature for GQ magazine as a part of a 54-track playlist he had been working on. The singer says the music is a song of worship, just life Jesus is King.
The music video is directed by Arthur Jafa and a mix from Dr. Dre along with a feature of Rapper Travis Scott. The video starts off with police shooting Black Lives Matter protesters seen through footage from a smartphone. Black people are seen breathing heavily and others are on hospital beds wearing face masks. Also Read– Katy Perry felt depressed after split with Orlando Bloom
“Wash us in the blood/ Wash us in the blood/ Whole life being thugs/ No choice selling drugs/ South Side what it does,” West raps. “Rain down on us/ Genocide what it does/ Slavery what it does/ Rain down on us.”
The video highlights 26-year-old Black emergency medical technician Breonna Taylor who was shot eight times by police in Louisville. The technician was shot in a no-knock drug sting operation. West also included video footage from the day Ahmaud Arbery was shot by a white ex policeman while out for a jog. “Execution in 30 states/ 30 states still execute/ Thou shalt not kill/ I should not spill.” The rapper talks about capital punishment laws currently in place in 28 states in the US.
