Another confederate statue torn down by protesters in Richmond

In recent weeks, the statues of Jefferson Davis, Williams Carter Wickham and Christopher Columbus were all toppled and destroyed by demonstrators.

On Tuesday night people demonstrating against racism and police brutality tore down another confederate statue in Richmond, United States.

Protesters used a rope to topple the Howitzers Monument located in the area of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Monroe Park campus. According to a video obtained from the Richmond Times-Dispatch, authorities found the statue on the ground  in Virginia’s capital city.Also Read- 7 Protesters Arrested for Vandalizing Columbus Statue

Virginia has seen a series of attacks on confederate statues since the start of protests

The incident is the fourth in a series of attacks on confederate statues and monuments in Virginia. The attacks started after the killing of George Floyd, an African American man. Floyd was killed by a white police officer over a supposed counterfeit $20 bill. The officer along with three other policemen pinned Floyd down by the neck for over 9 minutes causing his death.

In recent weeks, the statues of Jefferson Davis, Williams Carter Wickham and Christopher Columbus were all toppled and destroyed by demonstrators.

Demonstrators in the city marched to have all the confederate statues removed, an establishment of a civil review board on police actions, and the defunding of police.
