Thursday morning three police officers were stabbed or slashed in a residential Saugus neighborhood, according to a police department spokesperson.
State police said the officers responded to 29 Tuttle Street shortly after 7:20 a.m.
A public relations firm representing Saugus police tweeted that the three officers are expected to survive. A neighbor told WCVB they saw the officers being taken from the area by ambulance. Also Read–Fahim Saleh, John Jay grad found dead
State police said a fourth officer was also taken to the hospital “for precautionary reasons.”

The suspect, described by state police as a male in his late teens, is in custody and was taken to Melrose Wakefield Hospital.
